Using the wisdom of the Lakota culture and the latest cultural
education models 'Learning Prevention Using Lakota Values' is an age
appropriate school age curriculum. The workbooks help students
learn skills to prevent alcohol and drug abuse along with promoting
healthy character development and resiliency. A holistic approach
focuses on the knowledge and skills necessary for a healthy physical,
mental, emotional, and spiritual body. Each teaching has an activity,
project or Lakota story to help the student understand the core Lakota
values and its application to their daily lives and relationships.
A personal journal is also included to help the student learn the
language of feelings and the importance of expressing their feelings
in a healthy way. There are primary and secondary workbooks, and a
Teacher's Instruction Manual. A parenting educational curriculum and
workshops are also being implemented to assist parents in raising
healthy and resilient children.
